Profile Teach for Australia

Our Vision

Our vision is of an Australia where all children, regardless of background, attain an excellent education.

Our Mission

We help do this by transforming outstanding individuals into exceptional teachers and inspirational leaders, who will help change the lives of their students, and become future change makers in Australian education.

Our Culture

We believe that to achieve systemic change, inspirational leaders are needed in classrooms, schools, communities, business and government to champion efforts to close our education gap. There are three core elements to our approach: 1. We recruit Australia’s most outstanding and passionate graduates and professionals from all academic disciplines to commit to teaching in an educationally disadvantaged school for at least two years. 2. We support them through our award-winning Leadership Development Program to become exceptional teachers who have the potential to lead their students to dramatic and enduring academic outcomes and personal growth. 3. We’re growing a movement of individuals who progress to positions of leadership in education and beyond. In their own way, they will continue to influence change within education so that our shared and ambitious vision comes ever closer to reality

Our Values

"Empowering Greatness We see great possibilities and strive to bring them to life. We seek to lead by example and are agents for change in ourselves, in students and in our society. We create empowering learning environments that enable others to excel. Outcome Driven We are inspired by ambitious goals and pursue them with determination. We use fact-based data to think critically about problems and solutions. We take personal responsibility for delivering meaningful, measurable impact within timeframes that are challenging and motivating. Collaboration We strive to build effective, professional relationships within and across sectors. We have a collaborative mindset that opens us to the opportunities and expertise available through partnerships. We work together - within the organisation, with Associates and with partners, to achieve the individual and systemic changes we seek. Humility and Learning We respect and seek to learn from the communities we serve and the people with whom we work. We recognise the limits of our own experience, ask questions and seek diverse perspectives to inform our views. We work with curiosity and resourcefulness, engage in honest self reflection and look for ways to continuously improve. Innovation We bring energy and creativity to everything we do. We are excited by new ideas and look for new ways to do things that will bring us closer to achieving our goals. We embrace the opportunity to operate outside our comfort zone as a chance to grow and innovate. Resilience We are resilient when faced with obstacles and undaunted by the scale of the change we seek. We rise to the challenge and never forget why we do what we do. "

Why Join Us

You deserve a reward

If there is one thing all of our Associates have, it's career options; be it in business, law, engineering, government or social enterprise. Yet, each of our Associates has instead made a decision to pursue a different path, recognising the opportunity teaching provides to have a direct impact on the life trajectories of young Australians. Teach For Australia Associates hold a fundamental belief that all children can learn, and aspire to join in the conversation about eradicating educational disadvantage in Australia. They seek to learn from and work within their respective teacher networks in order to contribute to a vision that we all strongly share.
